Café Operations Lead - Twin City Twisters East

Starting Pay: $17.50

Hours: 5-10 Hours/Week

Schedule is generally flexible during the day for stocking/cleaning. While schedules can be adjusted to fit availability, this role must have night and weekend availability for training and supporting Café Staff.

 

Position Summary:

The Café Operations Lead manages daily café operations and provides hands-on supervision and coaching for employees with disabilities. This role ensures a welcoming customer experience while maintaining a supportive work environment where employees can develop job skills and independence.


Key Responsibilities:

Café Operations

  • Maintain food safety, sanitation, and cleanliness standards
  • Beverage and light food prep
  • Monitor inventory and assist with ordering supplies
  • Manage daily cash procedures
  • Provide on-the-job training and support for employees with disabilities
  • Collaborate with program staff regarding employee progress and support needs
  • Help implement vocational training goals for employees
  • Support a positive and respectful workplace culture

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience in food service, café, or hospitality 
  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities, special education, or human services
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to provide patient instruction and encouragement
  • Ability to multitask and manage a fast-paced environment
  • Basic computer and point-of-sale skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
  • Ability to perform basic food preparation tasks

Café GRIT Mentor - Twin City Twisters East

Starting Pay: $13.50

Hours: 5-10 Hours/Week

While schedules can be adjusted to fit availability, this role will be scheduled for afternoon/evening shifts and weekend hours, to support Café Staff during regular hours of Café operation.

 

Position Summary:

 

The Peer Mentor role supports café employees with disabilities by modeling workplace skills, reinforcing job expectations, and providing encouragement in a positive and inclusive work environment. The mentor works alongside café staff during daily operations, helping team members build confidence, independence, and job readiness skills.


This role combines café operations with peer mentorship to help ensure both excellent customer service and a supportive workplace for all employees.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Work alongside café staff with disabilities to support daily job tasks
  • Demonstrate and model café procedures, including beverage preparation, food service, and cleaning tasks
  • Break down tasks into clear steps and provide guidance when needed
  • Encourage independence while offering appropriate support
  • Provide positive reinforcement and constructive feedback
  • Assist with beverage preparation, light food preparation, and order fulfillment
  • Support customer service and cashier duties
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming café environment
  • Follow food safety and sanitation standards
  • Assist with restocking supplies and maintaining work areas
  • Reinforce café rules, expectations, and workplace professionalism

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, or supporting peers
  • Experience in customer service, food service, or café environments

Required Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience, empathy, and a supportive attitude
  • Ability to provide clear instruction and encouragement
  • Ability to work as part of a team

GRIT Adaptive Athletics Lead Instructor - Jam Hops, Blaine - Ham Lake & Ramsey

Starting Pay: $17.50

Hours: 5-10 Hours/Week

With the GRIT Executive Director, the Lead Instructor will set priorities for prep/lesson planning that can be done on a flexible basis.  This role will be scheduled for afternoon/evening shifts and weekend hours, in alignment with GRIT Adaptive classes, one-on-one recreational support class needs, and some activities/events.

 

Position Summary:

The Lead Instructor is responsible for supporting the GRIT Executive Director and Adaptive Athletics Instructors in planning and leading inclusive recreational classes for youth and adults with disabilities through GRIT Adaptive Athletics programs. This role ensures classes are safe, engaging, and supportive while maintaining high expectations for participation and skill development.

The Lead Instructor supervises instructors and volunteers, while modeling inclusive practices and positive behavior support.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and help lead adaptive classes such as gymnastics, dance, ninja.
  • Modify activities to meet the individual needs and abilities of participants.
  • Create a positive, encouraging, and inclusive environment for all participants.
  • Ensure classes are structured, organized, and follow GRIT Adaptive program goals.
  • Model best practices for inclusive instruction.
  • Provide guidance and feedback to support staff working with participants.
  •  Lead and supervise assistant instructors, volunteers, and mentors during classes. 
  • Ensure staff follow program expectations and safety procedures.
  • Respond to incidents or behavioral challenges using positive support strategies.
  • Complete incident reports when necessary.
  • Communicate with families, caregivers, and staff regarding participant progress, needs, and concerns.
  • Collaborate with program leadership on class improvements.
  • Attend required staff meetings and training sessions.
  • Assist with equipment setup and cleanup.
  • Help maintain organized and safe program spaces.
  • Support special events, camps, or community activities when needed.

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Experience working with individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Experience teaching gymnastics, dance, ninja, fitness, or recreational programs preferred.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to adapt activities to different abilities and learning styles.
  • Reliable, organized, and safety-focused.
  • Minimum age requirement 21+ 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to demonstrate physical skills and movements.
  • Ability to assist participants with mobility or positioning when necessary.
  • Ability to lift and move light to moderate equipment.
